Dumisane Hlaselo Arrested

University of Florida distance runner Dumisane Hlaselo was arrested Tuesday (June 28, 2011) in Gainesville, Florida.

Hlaselo was arrested for an incident that occurred on June 12, 2011 when he allegedly raped a woman who was a friend of his roommate. The victim said she fell asleep and awoke to find a man sexually assaulting her. She told him to stop and then forcefully shoved him to the floor. Hlaselo admitted to police that he entered his roommate’s bedroom naked with the intention of having sex with the victim. He said he had sex with the victim while she was semi-conscious and without her consent.

Hlaselo, 22, was dismissed from the team after this incident.
