Bowling Green State University linebacker Armani Posey was charged on Tuesday (June 26, 2018) in Bowling Green, Ohio. Defensive lineman Dirion Hutchins was charged on Friday (July 20, 2018).
According to the Toledo Blade, Posey and Hutchins were charged in connection with the illegal use of credit/debit cards that belonged to BGSU and designated for athletic book scholarships. Hutchins allegedly made 27 deposits for a total of $9,066 between April 23 and June 26 by taking money off the cards and placing them in a PayPal or Squareup account. He would then allegedly transfer the money to a bank and liquidated for cash. Posey allegedly received the credit card information from Hutchins and used the information to pay for food for his girlfriend.
Posey and Hutchins have been dismissed from the team.
Posey was found guilty on Monday (July 9, 2018) of unauthorized use of property. He was sentenced to a 180-day jail term that was suspended and ordered to pay BGSU $2,000 in restitution.
