Rutgers University linebackers Brendan DeVera, Malik Dixon, Syhiem Simmons, C.J. Onyechi and defensive backs K.J. Gray, Edwin Lopez, Kobe Marfo and Naijee Jones were charged on Wednesday (August 22, 2018) in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
According to NJ.com, the eight football players were allegedly involved in a credit-card fraud scam in the spring of 2018. They are accused of stealing credit card numbers and transferring funds from multiple RU Express Accounts for their own personal use and allegedly stole roughly $11,000.
DeVera and Gray were dismissed from the team in July 2018. Simmons and Lopez have also left the team.
