Bryant was arrested around 12 p.m. in front of a pizza parlor after witnesses saw a man choking and pinning a woman against a parked car. Bryant was uncooperative and resisted when police tried to place him in handcuffs and struck an officer in the chest with his elbow.

Bryant, 42, was later released on personal recognizance after he pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bryant is an ESPN.com senior writer and frequent panelist on the TV show “The Sports Reporters.”

According to the Daily Hearld, ESPN TV personality and sports columnist Jay Mariotti was arrested early Saturday (August 21, 2010) morning in Los Angeles, California.

Mariotti and his girlfriend allegedly got into an argument at a nightclub in Santa Monica, which continued at the couple’s apartment in Venice, where the verbal argument turned to a physical altercation. Police were called and Marioitti was taken into custody.

Mariotti, 51, is a sports columnist at FanHouse.com and a panelist on ESPN’s “Around the Horn”. He was later released on $50,000 bail.
